It is common knowledge that London is home to a diverse and unique music scene in which innovative genres such as Jazz, Neo-Soul and Future Beats flourish. We’ve decided to honour this rich and exceptional aspect of the city’s cultural presence by starting our own Jazz Club every Thursday after work. This social will feature a selection of local, talented special guests DJ on rotation every week who elegantly and skilfully join the dots between these eclectic and exciting genres. To celebrate the launch of this event, we will be taking a closer look at these selectors and the music that they hold dear to them.

We’re honoured to have the illustrious Tina Edwards join our Jazz Club cohort. Tina is very much at the forefront of the ‘UK Jazz explosion’ and hosts the flagship show on Worldwide FM. Recognised for her impeccable taste in music, Tina is often asked to programme stages at various festivals and is the co-founder of CHICAGOXLONDON – a series of events which saw more than 20 musicians from across the Atlantic come together to strengthen ties between Jazz musicians in the two cities. She is a phenomenal DJ who has played around the world from large venues to intimate spaces such as Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club – you’d be a fool to miss her.

Haseeb Iqbal is no stranger to the London Jazz scene. His debut book, Noting Voices: Contemplating London’s Culture, is a thorough exploration of the live music explosion that has taken the capital by storm and the spaces that enabled such a rich and complex scene. Haseeb is entirely immersed within the culture of the new UK Jazz movement, having grown up within it and hosting radio shows and podcasts focusing on the community aspect of the musical scene. An exceptional broadcaster, DJ and poet, we couldn’t ask for anyone better than Haseeb to feature at our Thursday Jazz Club (and definitely make sure to check out his enlightening book!).

Opening eyes and ears to the sounds of Jazz, Neo-Soul, Funk & Hip-Hop is the incredible talent of Somewhere Soul. Aside from being a skilful selector, Somewhere Soul also operates as an independent online music blog, showcasing the best emerging sounds from these eclectic and wonderful genres. We’re very much looking forward to hosting someone with such in-depth knowledge of the bubbling Jazz scene and seeing his passion being brought alive on the decks. Somewhere Soul is doing phenomenal things by supporting and highlighting rising artists from around the world as the scene continues to grow and flourish.

Kira Robin is an exceptional DJ who is currently making shockwaves in the music industry. Working full time as a Marketing & Social Media Manager at the record shop ColdCuts // Hot Wax, Kira also juggles her time between being band manager to the 14 piece Jazz ensemble Levitation Orchestra, Communications Lead for the music education platform CDR and hosting her own show on Balamii Radio. Her passion for the music industry is undeniable as she endeavours to learn about all the different aspects, from management to funding to performing herself. We’re incredibly excited to see what she has to bring to the Thursday Jazz Club.

Last but certainly not least, we’re pleased to introduce Sweet Lemonade Sisters, who will also be joining our incredible roster of Thursday Jazz Club DJs. They’ll be dropping their finest soulful cuts as these sisters are truly experts in all things smooth from Neo Soul to Hip Hop and more. Through DJ sets, mixes and their Sweet Lemonade Blog, this duo aims to promote excellent music as they explore a range of styles and tastes.
